Celebrity Chefs announced for Newmarket Food & Drink Festival 2017!

As the Newmarket Food and Drink Festival returns to the Open Weekend for 2017 in new, FREE access locations, not only will local chefs be showcasing their talents and demonstrating cooking techniques, but they will be joined by two top celebrity chefs, Sophie Grigson on the Saturday and Theo Randall on the Sunday!

Sophie Grigson is one of Britain’s best-loved food-writers and television cooks who now runs her own pop-up cookery school with colleague Hannah Bond, Sophie’s Cookery School in Oxford. A champion of domestic cookery, she is an advocate for eating well and keeping things practical! She’s authored eight successful cooking books, including Spices, Sunshine Food and Organic, which she co-authored with William Black. She has presented nine television series for the BBC, Channel 4 and UKTV Food and has more recently filmed Sophie in the Souk, Sophie Grigson in the Orient and Sophie Grigson in Jordan, amongst others, for The Travel Channel.

Theo Randall started working in River Cafe in 1989 and, after a brief year in California, remained there for 15 years as Head Chef. It was under his patronage that the restaurant received its first Michelin star in 1997. He left to launch Theo Randall at the InterContinental, which opened in November 2006, and has since earned him rave reviews from critics and food lovers alike. In 2016, the award-winning restaurant celebrated its 10th year with an interior refresh and enhanced menu. Theo is a regular on national television and has published two successful recipe books, PASTA in 2006 and My Simple Italian in 2015. Theo has also opened two further restaurants, Theo Mio in Bangkok in 2015 and Theo’s Simple Italian in Barkston Gardens, Earls Court.

Sophie and Theo will be sharing their top tips whilst cooking up a storm in the G’s Fresh Cookery Live Kitchen, located in the Heritage Centre’s Kings Yard. Full schedules coming soon.

Admission to the Newmarket Food & Drink Festival 2017 is FREE; there is no need for an Open Weekend ticket. Find out more: www.newmarketfoodanddrink.co.uk
