THE HENRY CECIL OPEN WEEKEND WELCOMES VISITORS BACK TO NEWMARKET

The Henry Cecil Open Weekend will take place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th September 2021.

Enjoy an action-packed weekend of events and the rare opportunity to delve behind the scenes at some of Britain’s best known horseracing yards. A timetable of events can be found below.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you all back to Newmarket.

Here is what you need to know:

Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th September 2021.

TICKETS

Online ticket sales are now closed. Wristbands can be purchased on both days, Saturday and Sunday, from any of the attractions open as part of the Open Weekend. Our main wristband and programme sales point is at the Severals car park on Sunday morning. A wristband is £17 per person. All children under 16 years of age go free. Your wristband must be shown on Saturday for access to events and worn on Sunday.

STABLE TOURS

See behind the scenes at some of the country’s leading training operations from 9am -12pm on Sunday 19th September ONLY.

Complimentary shuttle buses will run from Severals on Sunday morning to help visitors travel to yards.

Please note: Saeed bin Suroor’s yard is only open from 9am-10:30am 

NEWMARKET TOURS

ENTERTAINMENT

Saturday: Catch the Al Shaqab RoR Hacks Class at the National Horse Racing Museum before an action-packed afternoon of live racing at Newmarket Racecourse.

Sunday: Head to the Severals (located next to the car park) for all the afternoon entertainment, including the return of the hugely popular Clipper Logistics Show Jumping Competition, Pony Club Games, and Fun Local Dog Show.

The Henry Cecil Open Weekend 2021 is raising money in support of Racing Welfare, Newmarket Pony Academy and a soon to be announced community project.

National Horseracing Museum (NHRM):  Visitors can purchase tickets for National Horse Racing Museum in the museum shop on Saturday, 18th or Sunday, 19th September and will receive the special Open Weekend rate (£7.50 per person) when they show their wristband. This includes entrance to the museum, behind the scenes tours, access to the three special exhibitions, meeting our ex-racehorses, and a ride on the racehorse simulator. 

Jockey Club Rooms Tours: £5 per person, includes tea and coffee on arrival. No advance booking required. All tours conducted on a First Come First Served basis.

National Stud Tours: SOLD OUT – Our tours are fully booked on Saturday 18th September.
