On Saturday and Sunday, 19th and 20th September, the Betfair Newmarket Open Weekend gets set to celebrate all things food and farming at the inaugural ‘Food and Drink Festival’. Taste the flavours of East Anglia with local traders offering a mix of fabulous foods and dishes during the weekend. Located right at the heart of the action, at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile racecourse, the Festival will cover both afternoons of the Open Weekend.
The food will not be the only thing to make mouths water with a full card of top class racing also taking place on Saturday, as the Rowley Mile plays host to another great afternoon of racing. The Festival has over 30 bespoke stalls confirmed, including La Hogue Farm Shop, Ely Fudge Company, Steak and Honour, Saffron Ice Cream and many more.
No East Anglian Food Festival would be complete without sausages and the Betfair Newmarket Open Weekend certainly does not disappoint! On Sunday afternoon, local and regional producers will be going head to head in a not to be missed sausage competition. Each competitor will face the task of impressing our two main judges, British food critic Tom Parker Bowles and Investec Derby winning jockey and restaurateur Frankie Dettori.
The Newmarket Open Weekend Food and Drink Festival is certainly a day to please all foodies and race goers alike and a fantastic way to taste a wide variety of local produce.
