The race is on in the Trainers Commentary Competition

We hope that you all enjoyed a weekend of horsey fun at last weekend’s  2017 32Red Newmarket Open Weekend.  The fun though doesn’t stop there as Newmarket racecourse hosts the annual trainers commentary challenge!

It is Lambourn trainer vs Newmarket trainers, and we will be hoping that the Newmarket team will be able to keep the trophy at British horsracing’s HQ.  Jamie Osborne, Joe Tuite and Brendan Powell will represent the Valley of the Racehorse as Team Lambourn and Amy Murphy, Richard Spencer and Mark Tompkins will represent the home team as Team Newmarket.

Despite the commentary taking place on Saturday the winner will be announced on Monday, 2nd October and will be based on who has raised the most amount of money.  To date, £7,382.99 (and counting!) has been raised through the combined efforts of both teams and it is hopeful that people will be even more inspired to support each Trainer after Saturday for the last week that fundraising is open via Just Giving.

You can donate to each Trainer on Just Giving via text.  All you need to do is text 70070 with the following code, unique to each Trainer, stating your desired amount;

Amy Murphy AMTC 66 £your donation in numbers

Mark Tompkins MTTC 66 £your donation in numbers

Richard Spencer RSTC 67 £your donation in numbers

Joe Tuite JTTC 66 £your donation in numbers

Brendan Powell BPTC 66 £your donation in numbers

Jamie Osborne JOTC 66 £your donation in numbers

British actor and racing enthusiast Nathaniel Parker will also be lining up alongside the Trainers on Saturday, commentating on the fifth race.  A successful screen and stage actor, Nathanial has played a range of roles in a long list of iconic films, theatre productions and television series.  One of Nathaniel’s most notable roles was as Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley in the acclaimed BBC drama series, The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, as well as starring in films including the Body Guard, Beverly Hills Ninja and Hamlet to name a few.

All proceeds and donations will be split between NOW’s three beneficiaries this year: Racing Welfare’s Newmarket Housing Project, the Newmarket Day Centre, Newmarket Academy’s Social Mobility Fund.
