We are delighted to confirm that this year The Betfair Newmarket Open Day is to become the Betfair Newmarket Open Weekend and will run over Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September, 2015. The Open Day has been a huge success and in 3 years it has raised over £135,000 for local charities. The three charities that will share all the profits from this year’s event are: National Horse Racing Museum, Magpas: The Emergency Medical Charity, and Racing Welfare.
The weekend will commence on Saturday 19th with a tour of the Gallops at Warren Hill. A number of Equine sites will be open to visitors such as The British Racing School, The National Stud and Newmarket Equine Hospital. Racing will commence that afternoon at the Rowley mile with Live racing commentary from some of Newmarket’s top trainers, with Sir Michael Stoute, Sir Mark Prescott, William Haggas, Hugo Palmer and Charlie Fellowes taking on the high pressure role. Attendees on the day will also be treated to a variety of on course activities including demonstration from renowned horse whisperer Gary Witheford. This year Newmarket Open Weekend will also incorporate a fantastic Food and Drink Festival celebrating local produce and this will be held at the Rowley Mile during the afternoon on both days.
On Sunday, Newmarket’s training yards will be open between 0900 and 1230. Godolphin will also be opening Stanley House and Moulton Paddocks to the public which is another exciting addition to this year’s Open Weekend. During the afternoon the Rowley Mile will hold the second day of the Food and Drink Festival and more exciting events such as Pony Club Games and a Racing personality show jumping competition. Equine sites open during the day will include Rossdales Veterinary Surgeons and the National Horseracing Museum.
Keep an eye out for updates on Trainers yards, Equine sites and the Food Festival stalls for the Open Weekend.
